Above all FYI is a community. We allow users to contribute a vast range of content to express their views, thoughts, experiences and more. As such we require our users  to be, In keeping with the ‘Community Spirit’. Please be cordial, respectful, responsible and ethical in your use of this platform. Therefore, play nice isn’t ‘Rocket Science’. Take time to familiarize yourself. Please also read the Additional Guidelines below. These will specify what type of content that you can contribute to the site.

 

General Guidelines:

 

  • Content that is inappropriate: The use of colorful imagery and language is fine.  Although there is no place for threats or defamation. Likewise, we won’t tolerate racial vilification, or those who discriminate, harass or bully others.

 

  • Avoid conflicts of interests: If you contribute it should be unbiased and objective. For example: Don’t write reviews for your own or an employers business; or peers and competitors. similarly, business’s in your networking group, also a friends or family business’s. All of which would constitute a conflict of interest.

 

  • Promotional content: As a rule, we frown upon it. Unless the content is on a Business Owners Account pages or profile. For that reason, let’s keep the site useful for consumers and not overrun with commercial noise from every user.

 

  • Be relevantPlease make sure your contributions are relevant and appropriate to the forum. For example: A review is not the place to rant about a business’s employment practices. Nor to express political ideologies or extraordinary circumstances. Or other matters that don’t address the core of the consumer experience.

 

  • Negative comments: Even when you feel the need write a negative review. A great part of the reason for your expression should be to improve the experience for future service users. With this in mind, keep it Constructive so when and if the need arises to display a dislike. Remember a better reaction is the use of constructive criticism. Always opt for this.

 Transparency Guidelines

  • Intellectual property: Write your own content, also take your own videos and photos. Please don’t Swipe content from other sites. After all its your opportunity to express your own views and experiences. Here we believe your opinions Count for something!

 

  • Demanding payment: Quid pro quo, Regardless of whether you’ve been a customer of a bad experience or not. Please don’t suggest that you will remove or post a review as a way to extract payment from a business. Certainly simply asking for a refund to remedy a bad experience is a better route.

 

  •  Privacy: We all expect it, likewise we are all entitled to it. Above all be considerate, please don’t take close-up photos or videos of other patrons without their permission. Similarly, please don’t post people’s full names. Unless you’re referring to a service provider who are commonly identified by or commonly share their own full names.

 

  • Enforcement: Our aim is to nurture a culture of trust and transparency. We celebrate all those business’s and users who use reviews to improve customer service standards. And likewise we provide business’s and their users with a fair and open online experience. We are committed and work extremely hard to maintain the integrity of our review and the transparency of our site.

Additional Guidelines

Users want to read reviews from people they know and trust. Rather than those with profiles that are empty or laced with inappropriate content. Use your account profile to let people know who you are and what makes you tick, don’t be shy.

When updating your FYI profile, please be sure to keep in mind these three basic noteworthy guidelines as every profile on FYI must follow them:

 

Be Yourself

  • Your profile photo must be a picture of you or content belonging to you; your company or organization; no unlicensed content; PLR content; or other content copyrighted or trademarked by another party.
  • You may not have more thanone FYI profile.

Be Honest

  • Represent yourself honestly and accurately:
  • No false or misleading information.
  • No attempts to impersonate someone else or similarly violate someone else’s intellectual property right.
  • Do not use social connects to connect to accounts that you don’t own personally.
  • You must be the primary content creator behind all content you upload to FYI.
  • You’re responsible for having the proper authorization to use any other supplemental content, such as images or videos, that you upload with your profile.

Be Respectful

All content you upload from your Profile (text, images, or videos) must fully adhere to our Community Guidelines:

  • No spam, unwanted or repetitive content.
  • No content that promotes dubious or illegal activity, or content that is explicit, disrespectful, intimidating or harassing

Content on profiles that breaks these guidelines is subject to removal without warning and eventual account suspension.

The substance used in creating the best reviews offer a wealth of detail; a helpful tip or two for other consumers; a rich narrative and; finally put any criticisms constructively. Below are a few noteworthy thoughts for conscientious reviewers.

 

Accuracy

  • Make sure you can stand behind your review and that it’s factually correct. Certainly air your opinions freely, but don’t exaggerate or misrepresent your experience.

 

Personal experience

  •  Reviews are your chance to tell your own story without resorting to broad generalizations and conclusory allegations. Your constructive Opinion counts ten folds more than what you heard from your significant other or a co-worker. It’s your chance to be heard.

 

Review updates

  •  Updates to a review should reflect new interactions or experiences rather than expressing the same views previously detailed. If you’d like to add new insight to an old experience, you can edit your review.

 

Inappropriate content

  •  FYI is for everyone to enjoy. Refrain from posting abusive, offensive, indecent, pornographic, obscene content. Or anything that violates the law.We do not monitor, censor or moderate reviews. We provide a passive conduit only for users to post reviews about businesses featured on our website.

Relevance

  • Business photos and videos should be broadly relevant to the business and reflect the typical consumer experience (e.g., what the business looks like, what the business offers, etc.).

 Unique personal experience

  • If you post a photo or video that showcases a more unique personal experience with a business (e.g., your smiling group of friends at the bar, the fly in your soup), we may remove it from the photo gallery for the business, but it still may appear alongside your review if you write one about the business.

Do NOT harass

    • Keep connected to your fellow reviewers with FYI’s handy messaging feature. Each profile has an inbox so users can talk without sharing email addresses. You can contact members directly to ask about their reviews. Please don’t use this feature to harass other users or send other inappropriate content. PLEASE NOTE: Private messaging is NOT for journalists or market-researchers (or advertiser’s/company reps) to contact FYI Members.
