Posting Reviews

Sharing your experiences on your local businesses the right way!

So you want to be part of the FYI community? Great! now what, when and why should you review? All good questions because reviews and their content are a great way to express your thoughts on a business or service.

So Firstly what, FYI is bursting with categories of businesses all wanting a review. Although most tend to lean towards activities such as drinking or dining. However, any local interaction you may have experienced in Belize makes for a great review.

Secondly when? The best time to share a review is whilst its still fresh in your mind. If you had a bad experience, then once you have calmed down and will be constructive in any criticism you need to make.

Lastly why? An informed choice makes for better decisions, if you believe in making better decisions then you should be a part and write reviews so collectively we can help each other.

To include and not to include that is the question

So what makes for a great review? generally including easy to read informative and direct information with a focus on the consumer experience work well. Remember things such as:

  • being honest, detailed and specific
  • Provide useful, constructive feedback
  • Keep it friendly and civil
  • Paint a clear picture
  • include hints and tips
  • highlight employees who make a difference
  • lastly why you will or won’t use the service again

 

Above all your aim is to reflect an accurate view, sticking to relevant and genuine facts. It is fine to express an opinion such as “they have the best margaritas in the world”. Were as making false accusations like ” They probably use cat urine in their Margaritas, they taste that bad”. No matter how unbelievable or silly, its not cool to exaggerate content.

Need to correct a mistake, forgot something. similarly want to change something you posted about your experience? what ever the reason you can edit your review and doing it is simple.

 

On Desktop:

  • First of all Login, then head over to your dashboard.
  • On the left you will see “REVIEWS” click it.
  • Across the top of your screen you will see All-Received-Submitted.
  • Finally head to Submitted.

Here you will find all your reviews, now simply find the one you want to edit. Select the “Edit This Review” Button make your changes, lastly hit the “Submit Review ” Button and your all done.

On a mobile device:

The process is also the same, So follow the desktop steps above where it says you will see “REVIEWS” on your device you will see a “STAR” instead. this will be the only difference. Click on the “STAR” and continue to follow above.

*In your reviews dashboard you can see reviews you create under “Submitted” plus under “Received” you will find any reply’s from companies who have responded to your review of them.

So you’ve had a new experience with a business that you’ve already reviewed? You may want to add an update your existing review by editing it. Or rather you may wish to add a new review, the choice is yours.

 

For adding a new review simply head over to the businesses listing and add it. To edit an existing review with an update, follow the steps below:

On Desktop:

  • First of all Login, then head over to your dashboard.
  • On the left you will see “REVIEWS” click it.
  • Across the top of your screen you will see All-Received-Submitted.
  • Finally head to Submitted.

Here you will find all your reviews, now simply find the one you want to edit. Select the “Edit This Review” Button make your changes, lastly hit the “Submit Review ” Button and your all done.

On a mobile device:

The process is also the same, So follow the desktop steps above where it says you will see “REVIEWS” on your device you will see a “STAR” instead. this will be the only difference. Click on the “STAR” and continue to follow above.

* Updates or edits will not change the date of the original review.

Consider editing your review rather than removing it. If you feel that to remove it is the only option. From any page click or touch your Avatar to reveal your dashboard.

Now on the left you’ll need to select the ‘Reviews’ title it also has a star next to it. While mobile devices will only show the star. This will take you to a list of all the businesses you have reviewed. Now From here simply find the review you want to delete and delete it.

When you write a review on FYI, Businesses that have claimed their listing have the option to respond. So you may receive a Direct Message or public response to your review. Where a review may not be favourable, business owners should be tactful and constructive. So offers or incentives or public attacks are not acceptable.

Simply click on the report flag next to your original review.

To write a review you’ll also need to create a FYI user account if you don’t already have one.

Login if you already have an account, or head to the business listing and create one there. First of all you’ll need to click or tap “Write a Review”.

The box that opens will ask for an email should you not have an account. Submitting your review this will create a new account. Likewise logged in users can simply fill out the review and submit.

 

Also be aware that if you’re unable to locate the business, you may need to add it to FYI.

Freebie’s are great every one loves them but, Freebies in exchange for positive reviews not so good. So please don’t Write a five-star review in exchange for a free meal or anything else. However, if you’re so charming that whilst dining you get a free ice-cream or like by all means enjoy it. Then when writing your review its ok to mention you got a free perk!

Adding a profile picture to your account is simple, firstly head over to your dashboard. Click or touch your username or profile picture then select “Dashboard” from the dropdown. Now from your dashboard on the top left next to your username you will see the navigation menu as three lines. Touch or click on this a dropdown “My Profile” appears, Select it.

You can now upload your profile picture, for best results use an image 100 x 100 pixels. Once you have decided on a picture and uploaded it, there is one last thing to do. Scroll down the page and hit the “Update Profile” Button and your all done.
